    I was unable to open. I got the error message that it is not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged. Anyone else have this issue?

    It is an epub publication.
    I use sumatra pdf application to open epubs. but you can do an online conversion to PDF is you would rather.

    I always open and test the epub book before sharing and publishing. A epub viewer is included in the free software from Calibre.

    I always convert to PDF or MS.Word (.docx) with Calibre.

    I only use MS.Word (.docx) if I need to edit something in the document. For example, if I don't like the conversion.
    After editing i convert/save the document with MS.Word as .pdf
