Today, we gained a deeper understanding of Floral Translucency. We reviewed submissions and also saw two blending modes:

1. The Difference Blending Mode, which helps us see if we moved our camera or tripod while bracketing, and
2. The Divide Blend mode, which helps eliminate colour casting:

14 Special Series - Floral ICM Part 1

Continuing our Special Series on Studio Floral Photography. In response to many Patreons requests, this session will focus specifically on In-Studio Floral ICM. We’ll look at how to set up a simple studio environment, choose the right flowers, manage lighting, and apply intentional camera movement to create well-structured, expressive images.

We discussed what makes a good subject for this technique, how to control motion for different visual effects, and how to refine your results through multiple takes.

15 Special Series - Floral ICM Part 2 - STUDENT WORK

In this session, we reviewed the submission and learned about the different exposure times and techniques used by the different participants.

Also, Sharon demonstrated how to convert a white background to black using the LAB color space.

16 Special Series - Floral ICM Part 3 - STUDENT WORK

Building on the previous two sessions, we continued reviewing participant submissions. The focus was on moving beyond simply creating an ICM image to processing an image in a way that tells a story. Rather than using advanced post-processing techniques, we demonstrated how thoughtful use of basic Photoshop tools can elevate an image and result in a more refined and sophisticated final photograph.

18 Special Series - Water Color Images Part 1

Today in our Special Series, we explored the fascinating process of reverse-engineering watercolour photographs. Using Colin Smith's excellent tutorial as our guide, we recreated his workflow with great success while learning several valuable Photoshop techniques along the way.

One of the highlights of the session was learning how to create, customize, and modify our own Photoshop brushes—an incredibly useful skill that extends far beyond watercolour effects. It was a fun, creative session, and I can't wait to see what everyone comes up with over the next week!​

The Third (and Perhaps Not the Final!) Session on Creating Watercolour Images in Photoshop
In today's session, we explored yet another approach to creating beautiful watercolour images in Photoshop. We reviewed participants' submissions, discussed what worked well, and shared ideas for refining the technique.
Sharon also walked everyone through her own workflow, demonstrating how she created her latest watercolour image using the Spoon Graphics technique and highlighting a few modifications she made along the way.
We'll set this technique aside for a few weeks to give everyone time to experiment, practice, and develop their own style. Based on participants' interest, we'll happily revisit the topic in the future, and any follow-up questions can be brought to upcoming Shop Talk sessions.

We saw the creative submissions of the watercolour technique. Some explored other methods and shared it with us like sharon Dentice, so next week we will continue to see where this technique takes us.

I included the instructions I wrote following the Spoon Graphics youtube and the brushes I used along with some other watercolor brushes and water color paper. I forgot to mention that in the YouTube at the end he shows you how to add a second image to PSD file and copy the mask to duplicate the file on a new picture.
The WC Paper is what I used in my images, I think it’s PK1 from the pack of paper.

Watercolor Process
Select Q for quick mask mode - layer turns red
Foreground Color Tool (Black-White Boxes on lower left Panel): click here set foreground color to slight dark grey for abstract effect
The darker the grey, the closer the painting will be to the image (Abstract-slightly lighter grey)
Press Option-Delete to fill canvas
Press Q again to turn it into a selection. Click OK
Click on Generative Fill

Type in Watercolor or Oil Painting and click Generate

While going through the submissions, we also explored how a few simple adjustments can take the gold effect to the next level. We looked at ways to enhance the richness and depth of the gold tones, while also adding a subtle shine that gives the surface a more realistic, luminous quality.

These small refinements can make a big difference, transforming a flat gold effect into something that feels more dimensional, polished, and metallic.
