A TIME-SAVING TIP FOR REPEAT USERS OF TOPAZ LABS PRODUCTS REGARDING MODEL DOWNLOADS:​

Special Note: This top my no longer hold water as Topaz Labs has in some cases found a way to determine if the models in the models folder carry the proper dates. If they don't they reject them and instruct you to reinstall the program. So, you could simply not overwrite any models in the new models folder, but doing all this would probably no longer be time saving?

This little tip about the all important models these programs use will save at least repeat users (be you an installed user or portable user) a lot of time when setting up a new version of Topaz Photo AI, Topaz Gigapixel AI, or Topaz Video AI. So, before deleting the previous version and definitely before installing a new version of any of the above mentioned programs, make sure the models folder from the previous version is available to you. That means copy it to a safe place for now. Oh, and just to clarify, each of these programs uses a different set of models.

Now setup the new version, but before loading an image (and then having to wait ages for models to download), just close the program and copy the old models complete folder and replace the new models folder with the old models folder. In short, delete the new models folder and then replace it with the old models folder. Now open the new version again, load an image and there will be no wait. Any new models (which is rare) will be downloaded automatically if and when the program needs them. I can't give you the location of the models folder because each author sets up his program differently. Just use Windows Explorer and browse through the folders of the old version of the program and you'll find it. Same hold true for the new program.

 

For everybody trying to use this, during install software tries to download additional models. As stated above, you need to turn down firewall. I use TinyWall and despite shutting it down, models still didn't download.
Make sure you temporary disable also Windows Defender Firewall!

Disable your antivirus software before downloading and installing the program
Copy the patch file to the folder where you have installed the program and run it as admin to register
Enable your antivirus

 

there is a password on the patch folder, and I tried the normal one with no luck. Can you update the link with the password?

 

That's very odd, I never put a password on that one. I've just downloaded from my link above and could uncompress without problems. I use WinRAR if that helps. Also be sure to disabled your antivirus before attempting to unrar de file.

 

It's just the patch archive inside the main archive that is requesting the password. Does it not for you?
